"It Must Be Of The Spirit ..............."

'Men since the beginning of time have sought peace.Various methods through the ages have been attempted to devise an international process to prevent or settle disputes between nations....We have had our last chance....The problem basically is theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence and improvement of human character that will synchronize with our almost matchless advances in science , art , literature and all material and cultural developments of the past 2000 years.IT MUST BE OF THE SPIRIT IF WE ARE TO SAVE THE FLESH."
General Douglas MacArthur , Battleship Missouri , 2/9/1945.

"One theologian ( Jesuit Father Karl Rahnev ) argues that if the image of God faded completely from our minds , we would slowly cease to be human. This means that we would retain our intellectual capacity, our ability to make ever more complex machines. But by cutting the umblical cord with God , our source of ethical vitality would be gone.Morally we would become nothing more than a species of fantastically clever monkeys.... For the truth is that we humans are all Jekyll and Hyde creatures and the monster within each of us is always striving to take over.Theologians call this the doctrine of original sin and it explains what we all observe but find hard to understand.Man can be and often is destructive and malicious. This propensity to evil cannot be corrected entirely from our own resources. We need external help to keep our dark side under control. That is what regular practice of religion provides." Paul Johnson , the author of The Recovery Of Freedom , Modern Times etc etc.

In all the annals of Mankind has a moral code been given to peoples such as The 10 Commandments ( Deuteronomy 5: 6 - 21 )?

A Point To Ponder

There comes a point in your life when you realize:
Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will..
So, don't worry about people from your past,
there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future..
Give these flowers to everyone you don't want to lose in 2009,
Try to collect 12; it's not easy!

A " Salty " Death

Unrefined ocean salt is NaCl 98% plus over 80 trace elements.Pure NaCl ( table salt) is 99.9% "pure" a chemical as clean as heroin. Many cultures have acquired a taste for salt that borders on addiction. The average American eats 2,900 mgs to 4,300 mgs of sodium daily ( the recommended WHO dosage is 2,300 mgs ) thanks and no thanks to restaurant and processed food , snacks and other on-the-go foods . Half of Europe ( and most of Latin America ) consumes fluoridated salt which does just as lethal a damage as the former.
Almost 94% of salt produced goes to Industrial Users and only about 6% is channelled to food use.Salt has to be refined to remove impurities but when the process is over, most 80 of the trace elements are also taken out , leaving only sodium and chloride which suit Industrial Users . To what's left of the original salt content , aluminium hydroxide and aluminium silicate are added to bleach and prevent water absorption ( more than 40 additives are commonly used ) . Refined table salt that we consume makes it difficult for our bodies to absorb and process. Deposits of this salt build up in the joints of our bones , walls of veins , arteries , lymph system ducts , brain , urinary tract , sexual organs and glandular systems. This may eventually lead to loss of function and impairment of bodily vitality.

Lest We Forget ........

The world shall never know those who have gone into silence nor ever remember the millions who have been blotted out in history's slaughters.Close to two million plus died under Mao Ze Dong's land reforms in the early 1950s.For pure unspeakable evil 100 million died under communist rule in recent times. The Nazis grissly horrid cleansing buried eleven million innocents. In 1930s Ukraine seven million people were starved to death on 'government' orders. In a space of 4 years 1.5 million Cambodians were buried in mass graves at the hands of their own countrymen. These figures do not include the living dead - maimed , disfigured , those driven mad , wasted to dependence on drugs and alcohol , disoriented by fear , torture and terror. As we shift thru' media , let's observe REMEMBERANCE DAY in a new way as another chapter of time , a new year , rolls in for whoever has died under inquisitions , killed as heretics, murdered by the ustashi , fascism , crusades etc etc : thrown into unnamed , unmarked , mass graves ,in city squares , under trees continuing even up to today in civilisation's most enlightened age - in Darfur ( >500,000 killed ) ,Sri Lanka(Dead:70,000;Refugees:1,000,000), Armenia (1,000,000 WWW1), Ethiopia ( 500,000 young people 1977-78) and everywhere else where lives are being snuffed and sent into oblivion over ideology , creed , religion and race. War has never left Mankind's hearth though leaders' have vowed after each war to never grind again their war machines. History has been staggering along with it's hands dripping with blood ... With the declining 'prescence'/waning leadership of US and British power in world affairs dark terrors lurking in ancient cultures and rivalries will again bounce back from their closets and graves and savage this age.

HANAOKA, Japan - Townspeople here cheered when the Chinese slave laborers, dressed in rags, eyes wild with hunger, were paraded back from the mountains after a failed rebellion and escape. At the time, July 1945, many in this northern mining town thought the 800 slaves got what they deserved for killing several Japanese guards in their revolt: They were beaten, forced to kneel on the floor for days, and denied food and water. Scores were tortured to death. At the end of the war, only half the slaves were alive.Yet the perpetrators got off lightly.Yasuo Togashi remembers the bone-thin captives eating weeds as they were marched from the train station to their mining camp( MSNBC )

The chief reason warfare is still with us is neither a secret death-wish of the human species, nor an irrepressible instinct of aggression, nor, finally and more plausibly, the serious economic and social dangers inherent in disarmament, but the simple fact that no substitute for this final arbiter in international affairs has yet appeared on the political scene.[ Hannah Arendt , Crises Of The Republic , 1972 ]

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children . . . Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." Dwight D. Eisenhower , The Chance For Peace , April 1963

What a cruel thing is war: to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purest joys and happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our neighbors, and to devastate the fair face of this beautiful world. General Robert E.Lee in a letter to his wife,1864

The Tomorrow Trap

For Rachel , the key was a greater sense of financial security. For years she postponed her dream of expressing her creative and artistic side. Intent on saving for the future and the children , she spent 20 years at a computer company skimping on sleep , and activities . But the toll was massive. She loathed the heavy travelling her job required - often she burst into tears in front of her computer . At home she became irritable. She hardly knew where the children were . One day feeling a little comforted by a small nest of savings , she stepped out and signed up for interior design school. She found fascination returning to her life .......Living for the future , taking solace or refuge in visions of a relaxed and exciting life " somewhere" down the road have become mirages that a lot of us chase and let's just call it the tomorrow trap. But in reality we just end up burying ourselves in our careers and pursuits. " Someday I'll ....... " or " You won't find me being that ... " etc etc are very emotionally seductive swansongs . Captives of this rationalisation feel rushing past fun , family , friends and laughter as noble and worthwhile . But err the burnout , loss of motivation , exhaustion and the death of celebrating life arrives , step out and just go and do it today!
